our mission
Our mission at Black Girls Who Write is to disrupt the literary landscape and show the world that Black women authors are here to stay… and get PAID.
We create safe and supportive spaces for independent authors, writers, and content creators to publish best-selling books, build a loyal readership, and grow a recognizable brand. Plus, we have a lot of fun!
Through our in-person and online events, BGWW provides sisterhood, community, and resources that empower women to grow as writers and elevate their voices globally.
Tap into your creativity. Collect your coin. Shift the culture. Join us!
“Being a Black woman writer is not a shallow place to write from. It doesn't limit my imagination; it expands it. .”

a dash of what we do
creative connection retreat
The Black Girls Who Write Author Retreat will now go by Creative Connection Retreat. This is an annual retreat that focuses on different skill sets to help independent authors or entrepreneurs with writing a book, teach them how to build a brand, collaborate with other like-minded individuals and/or businesses, and educate themselves in areas of improvement.
script to screen
A literary and entertainment event merging authors and prominent film industry executives together to cultivate ideas, discuss the future with black representation in film and what it takes to bring a novel to the big screen, whether it’s a movie or television show.
